darling uncle hans what can i say u knew you had cancer but never told any of us you arranged things best you could because you knew you didnt have much time.
we only had a short 15 yrs with you but it felt like we had known you all our lives.
nan went through her life being told you died in infancy, but she always felt you were alive and that dream of hers came true when she finally got conformation from germany that you were most definatly alive,
i think it was within weeks she was over to see you and i remember her telling me you ahad a beautiful bouquet of flowers and noone knew where they went when u met.
then u came here and nan decided to move to germany with you i missed her terribly while she was there she moved back in 1981 and by 89 you were both living back here with all your english family i think which you were most overwhelmed i remember the date you came back 20th july 1989 because we put a big banner outside debbies saying the eagles have landed,
within weeks you and nan had a beautiful bungalow then slowly your arthritus began to get worse and you were virtually house bound in the end living of noodles when nan went away and coffee u drank coffee like men drink beer you could put that away too we had so many nights at yours with drinks and your famous punch i was to young to drink then but u always slipped me a little bit sayin dont tell my mam or nan then when you went into hospital you were eying the nurses up we thought you would be fine unknown to us u had cancer u gave mam all your records which u treasured 3 weeks before you passed and showed her where all of your insurance documents were and all the papers from germany what need to be sent off you aswked our ken to make you some potato panckaes the day you died he made enough to feed an army and you ate every last one of them.
i had been with nan all weekend and went home so leanne and sonia were staying with her it was 12.05 am when the phone rang it was leanne to say you had passed i couldnt believe it i was down to nans in about 10mins which wasnt bad considering i lived 10 miles away and got mam on the way our ken was the same the day of your funeral we came and placed a tulip in your coffin as it had just opened that morning and you always loved your garden there was so many people in the crematorium i couldnt believe it and when the vicar said the lords prayer in german it was just so emotional nan never recovered after losing you not only where you her brother but you shared the same soul the day you died you took part of her with you
now you are reunited yet again only this time for eternity
i love and miss you take care of nan for me
and i always remember what you said
(your final shirt has no pockets )
i now have 4 lovely kids which i wished could have met you i know you know them they only see photos and know who you are but they will never know from experiance what a kind loving true gentleman you really were
sleep tight darling uncle
shelly xx
